Evolutionary Arts Hackney Concert Hall

Transit Studio (2022)

11-17 Stoke Newington Rd, Dalston, London, England

The Hackney Arts Centre, a forgotten Art Deco treasure in London's creative hub, is set to be revived as a vibrant twenty-first-century arts centre. The project aims to restore the building's former glory and create a vital community space. The focus is on enhancing the concert hall, with particular attention given to the design of the colour scheme and materiality. Blue metal mesh plays a crucial role in shaping the atmosphere, contributing to the space's visual and acoustic aspects. With its captivating visual impact, the mesh creates a vibrant ambience and allows for a connection with the surroundings. Additionally, it helps in diffusing sound waves, optimising the acoustic experience. Integrating the blue metal mesh throughout the concert hall creates a cohesive and unified aesthetic, reinforcing the centre's identity. The revitalised Hackney Arts Centre aspires to become a treasured asset in the local community, catering to diverse audiences and fostering creativity and inclusivity.
